Building Representatives Prevention Advocate

The Prevention Advocate represents the campus and provides information that is used in designing, implementing, and evaluating prevention and intervention programs.   Your building contact is your Safety Gang Task Force Representative.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Training meetings will be available for professional development hours.   Networking opportunities and activities that align with individual campus goals and objectives will be shared.

  • LOCATION:   CFISD Exhibit Center, 11206 Telge Rd.
  • TIME:   3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Communicate information on the most recent programs available for prevention and intervention to the A-team for utilization and approval.  
  • Distribute monthly newsletter to staff and parents.
  • Assist in scheduling DARE, GREAT, STEP, and Red Ribbon Week activities.
  • Coordinate the purchase of teacher and student supplies related to prevention programs.
  • Review and evaluate the effectiveness of the activities related to the goals and objectives for the campus improvement plan.
  • Complete reports and end of the year evaluation.

The Safety Gang Task Force Representative will remain the primary contact for your campus. We will meet monthly with these representatives to convey information. The Prevention Advocate will work with the SGTF to keep our office informed about programs and activities through monthly reports.

  Prevention Advocate Requirements 2006-07

  • The 2006-2007 Prevention Advocate position has been modified to meet the needs of our growing population. The new job description includes:

    • Attending 4 meetings (2 training and 2 informational). These required meetings will be Professional Development with compensation. Valuable information will be provided for designing, implementing, and evaluating the programs on your campus.
    • 2 Training meetings – These meetings will provide needed training to share with your community and staff. Similar meetings have been completed this fall, plan on attending these sessions in the spring if you were unable to attend in the fall.

    • “How to recognize and what to do about GANGS” (May 9, 2007, 4:00 - 6:00 PM; course # 0043456)

    • 2 Informational meetings – These meetings are work sessions with other Prevention Advocates and will provide direct instruction regarding the evaluation and implementation of programs. These meetings are for new and former PA’s.

    • Communicating information on the most recent programs available for prevention and intervention to the A-team for utilization and approval.

    • Assist in scheduling DARE, GREAT, Tobacco Prevention, Shattered Dreams, SAVE, and Red Ribbon Week activities.
    • Coordinate the purchase of teacher and student supplies related to prevention programs.
    • Review and evaluate the effectiveness of the activities related to the goals and objectives for the campus improvement plan. Complete 6-week reports and the end of the year evaluation.
