Question: |
Why do we have so many fire drills? |
Answer: |
State law mandates one (1) fire drill per month. It is recommended that fire drills be alternated between obstructed and unobstructed each month. An evacuation route showing a main route and an alternate route should be posted in each room. A year-end recap of the drills must be forwarded to the Safety Department for filing with the Texas Fire Commission. |

Question: |
Why can’t we store materials such as furniture, custodial supplies and paper in the mechanical and air handler rooms? |
Answer: |
Mechanical room equipment can create heat. Therefore, flammable or toxic producing materials should never be stored in such an environment. If a fire should occur, smoke will spread through the building via the HVAC ducts causing serious health hazards to students and staff. |
