The goal of the Special Services Department is to provide a group of quality services to the District for the benefit of students, staff, and taxpayers.
The Department interacts with entities of the state, federal and local governments in a number of areas; administers management plans for asbestos and hazardous waste; administers the waste management contract, the fire extinguisher contract, the elevator maintenance contract, the hazardous waste contract, the Integrated Pest Management program, and coordinates the District's recycling program. The Department is responsible for District compliance with the regulations of the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission (TNRCC), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Texas Department of Health (TDH). Additionally, the Department oversees the daily operation of two (2) Early Learning Centers which care for 198 children, the District's Recycling Center, and the Safety Department.
The Department is committed to saving taxpayer dollars, ensuring the environmental well being of the District, and providing the best possible day care services to District employees.
