Dec. 7, 2016—Two school district partners came together on Dec. 7 to solidify an adoption agreement with Owens Elementary School.

CFISD’s Adopt-a-School program pairs schools with community and business partners to utilize the resources of the community to strengthen and enrich the quality of education for students.
Allegiance Bank is adopting its second CFISD campus, as it has previously partnered with Frazier Elementary School.
Amy Frank, second from left, Owens Elementary School principal, expresses her appreciation to members of Epiphany Lutheran Church and Allegiance Bank for adopting the campus.
“We are very proud to be a partner with CFISD,” said Linda Humphries, Allegiance Bank vice president and marketing director. “I have had three children go through the district, and we want to be involved because we feel like we want to partner with the best of the best. The children here have many different types of needs, and we just want to be a part of that.”
Jeffrey Muchow, Epiphany Lutheran pastor, said he learned of the adoption process through his director of Christian education intern, Patrick Moore. With the church being located close to Owens at West and Jackrabbit roads, the partnership seemed ideal.
“It was brought up during a meeting and we all thought, wow, what an opportunity we have right across the street,” Muchow said. “We want to be a presence in these kids’ and staff’s lives—tutoring, mentoring, just helping any way we can.”

Muchow said that Epiphany would hit the ground running with the adoption. Students from the church’s K-8 school are visiting Owens on Dec. 8 to sing carols to the students.
“Taking care of 1,000 students is a big job, so the more help and support we have, the better we can do that,” said Amy Frank, Owens principal. “This adoption is overwhelming and wonderful. I appreciate everybody making this happen.”
