April 29, 2017—Dean Middle School eighth-grade student CJ Ortiz, an all-A honor roll student this year, stood out for the A team in basketball and football while making All-District Band. He represented Dean with distinction during the job interview portion of Junior Achievement day. Ortiz is inspired by his parents and seeks to finish the school year strong with “Commended” ratings on his STAAR tests.

Accomplishments: All-A Honor Roll, 2016-2017; member of basketball and football A teams; member of District Band.

Favorite class: History. “I find it interesting seeing their thought processes and comparing it with today.”

Favorite things to do after class: Play sports.

Favorite song: Rapper’s Delight by The Sugarhill Gang.

Favorite website: Google. “Everything is at your fingertips.”

Favorite TV show: Deadliest Warrior. “I like seeing the battles at the end of the episode.”

Favorite movie: Remember the Titans. “I love the connections between Gerry Bertier and Julius Campbell.”

Ambition: “Whatever God puts in my path.”

What topics/things are you passionate about? Sports and music.

What inspires you? My parents.

What three things can’t you live without? Music, Chinese food and exercising.

What are you most looking forward to this year? “I want to finish out the year strong and get ‘Commended’ on all my STAAR tests.”
