Oct. 16, 2017—Smith Middle School eighth-grader Hope Vanderburg is a fourth-year student of Theatre Under the Stars’ Humphrey School of Music, having performed in multiple shows on the main stage.

Accomplishments: Vanderburg is in her fourth year with the Theatre Under the Stars’ Humphrey School of Music. She’s performed in four professional shows on its main stage in addition to performing at numerous charitable events and a show at Miller Outdoor Theatre.

Favorite class: “Her favorite class is science because she likes doing fun experiments and learning how the world works.”

Favorite things to do after class: Outside of school, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends.

Favorite song: Look What You Made Me Do by Taylor Swift

Favorite website: YouTube. “She likes watching a variety of funny videos.”

Favorite TV show: Full House. “It teaches good life lessons and it is a classic.”

Favorite move: Grease. “She loves to sing along to all of the songs.”

Ambition: “Her ambition is to perform on Broadway one day because theater is her passion and she would like it as a career.”

What topics/things are you passionate about?: “Her Catholic faith, musical theater and school.”

What inspires you?: “Her parents and all of her teachers.”

What three things can’t you live without?: “A steak dinner, playing with her little sister and celebrating Christmas.”

What are you most looking forward to this semester?: “Learning how to type properly in my keyboarding class.”
