Dec. 12, 2016—CFISD partner Faith Assembly Church helped deliver another unforgettable holiday gift to CFISD students for the fourth straight year through a shoe giveaway for Holbrook Elementary School on Dec. 11.
Faith Assembly purchased 987 pairs of Under Armour shoes, and church staff and volunteers announced the giveaway to Holbrook students during lunch on Dec. 8.

Holbrook students and their families arrived on Sunday to find brand-new shoes wrapped and waiting for them in the church gymnasium.
“At Faith Assembly, we’re all about building on life’s greatest moments. And for us, this year, that meant helping make a principal’s dream come true for her school,” said Leah Carreon, Faith Assembly children’s pastor. “We know that these shoes are much more than a pair of shoes. They’re a gift of grace to show that someone loves your child.”
Yvette Garcia, Holbrook principal, thanks Faith Assembly Church Lead Pastor Jason Taylor for providing new shoes for every student at the campus.
Faith Assembly initially partnered with CFISD schools through a bicycle giveaway, “The Gift,” in 2013 at Reed Elementary School. It continued the effort with another neighboring CFISD school at Frazier Elementary School in 2014, then served Bane Elementary School students in 2015.
Holbrook staff from each grade level helped distribute the shoes to each student as the families lined up in the gym.

“It was very touching because there were so many kids here,” said Yvette Garcia, Holbrook principal. “Just to see their smiles when they got their box of shoes—it was special. The majority of my staff was here today, and it was good to see how supportive of their students they were as well.”
