Students from Cypress Falls High School's Class of 2005 recently organized a teddy bear drive at their school to collect stuffed animals for the Harris County Sheriff's Department's "Bear Hug" program. Officers keep the plush dolls in their patrol cars and at their police stations to help calm the frightened children they sometimes encounter while working in the field. The students collected more than 1,650 stuffed animals and presented them to the Sheriff's Department March 8.
From left, District IV Capt. Susan Nixon is pictured accepting teddy bears from Cypress Falls freshmen Tram Cao, Cassandra Sridhakan, Nicole Paolini and Jennifer Rogers.
