CFISD’S POLAND NAMED 2001 PYSCHOLOGIST OF THE YEAR
Citing his contributions to the field of psychology, the Texas Psychological Association (TPA) has selected Dr. Scott Poland, director of the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District’s psychological services, as the recipient of the 2001 Psychologist of the Year Award.
The award will be presented to Poland during the association’s annual convention scheduled for October 4-6 in Austin, Texas.
Known as one of the nation’s leading school psychologists, Poland has been called upon to assist in the aftermath of national tragedies, including the devastating terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the 1995 bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, as well as the fatal school shootings in Jonesboro, Ark., and Littleton, Colo.
Poland has previously been honored with several prestigious national, state and regional awards, including the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) Presidential Award that he earned in 1998. Additionally, he served as the president of NASP in 1999-2000 and has been recognized by CFISD as a two-time Wall of Fame inductee.
