The winner and runner-up for the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Elementary Spelling Bee are pictured receiving their awards from Linda Wichman, elementary language arts helping teacher, following a close competition. Pictured at far right, Adam Elementary fifth-grader Snigdha Peddireddy won first place by correctly spelling the words "querulous" and "kibitzer." Peddireddy will advance to compete in the Houston Chronicle Spelling Bee scheduled for March 27, 2002. Hamilton Elementary fifth-grader Ajitha Kommalapati (middle) was the runner-up in the district competition held February 12 at the Instructional Support Center. |
