The winner and runner-up for the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Middle School Spelling Bee are pictured with their respective plaques following the competition. Pictured at left, Hamilton Middle School student Amartya Sengupta won the competition by correctly spelling the words "dyspeptic" and "niveous." Sengupta will represent CFISD in the Houston Chronicle Spelling Bee scheduled for March 27, 2002. Dean Middle School student Jennifer Bell (right) claimed the runner-up position in the district competition, which was held February 5 at the Instructional Support Center. |
