CFISD TRUSTEES NAMED TASA HONOR BOARD

Already named the Outstanding Board of the Year by the Region IV Educational Service Center, the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Board of Trustees has been chosen as one of five Texas Honor School Boards for 2002 by the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA).

The other four Honor Boards in the TASA competition are Bronte ISD (Region XV), Llano ISD (Region XIII), Northwest ISD (Region XI), and Quinlan ISD (Region X). Each school board was nominated for the TASA award by its superintendent of schools.

Among the factors that resulted in the recognition of the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Board were the trustees’ vision, commitment and leadership as policy makers; commitment to the improvement of students; evidence of strong community support for the district; cooperation among Board members and the superintendent; and evidence of successful school/business partnerships.

During the 2002 Texas Association of School Administrators/Texas Association of School Boards (TASA/TASB) 42nd Annual Convention in late September, each of the five honor boards will be interviewed by a committee. The Outstanding School Board for 2002 will be named September 28 during the convention’s first general session.
