
Superintendent Rick Berry designated November as Board Appreciation Month to honor the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District Board of Trustees which was named the 2002 Outstanding School Board of the Year by the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA).
Trustees serving on the CFISD Board for 2001-2002 were Lou Bertoli, president; Lida Woodul, vice president; Terry Newcomer, secretary; Alton Frailey; William O’Brien; Al Martinez; and Don Ryan.
Joining Berry to honor CFISD Trustees were Johnny Veselka, executive director of TASA; State Senator Jon Lindsay and his wife State District Judge Tony Lindsay; Ed Heathcott, mayor of Jersey Village; John Fox, trustee for the North Harris Montgomery County Community College District; State Representative Corbin Van Arsdale; Darcy Mingoia, president of Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce; and Butch Milks, representing Pride and Recognition; Elena McCreery, representing the PTO Presidents Council; and Linda Young, Chairperson, VIPS Executive.
Veselka gave each trustee an individual plaque and then presented the entire Board the official 2002 Outstanding Board of the Year Award from TASA. Post Elementary students handed out pins of recognition, that were designed by Pride and Recognition, to each trustee.
