
Six Cypress Creek High School seniors have been named Semifinalists while 13 were honored as commended students in the 2003 National Merit Scholarship Program. Three Cypress Creek seniors were named as Semifinalists in the National Achievement Scholarship Program.
Semifinalists placed among the top 1% and Commended Students placed among the top 5% of more than one million students who entered the Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test during their junior year. Semifinalists will continue in the competition for approximately 8,000 Merit Scholarship awards, worth more than $30 million, to be offered next spring.
Semifinalists in the National Achievement Scholarship Program are among the 1,500 top performing African American students in the nation and are competing for approximately 775 Achievement Scholarship Awards that will be awarded next spring.
Cypress Creek seniors named as Semifinalists are Mark Broadbent, Joseph Castelli, Tyler Davis, Katherine Foster, Leslie Kendall and Jennifer Nation. Commended Students are Kristin Brown, Ty Crum, Maurice Enderle, Jessica Harvat, Matthew Jancaitis, Hashemi Nayeb, Grant Oladipo, Bertrand Pourteau, Whitney Reding, Jeffrey Russell, Jamie Shellenberger, Gregory Shipman and Vanessa Velasquez. Semifinalists in the National Achievement Scholarship Program are Bobb Adams, Eliot Cotton and Grant Oladipo.
