Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Trustees recognized Exxon/Mobil for its partnership with
the school district during the September 9 board meeting. Lori Bussiers, senior
marketing specialist, represented Exxon/Mobil at the meeting.
Exxon/Mobil provided $91,500 in grants during the 2001-2002 school year and 75 of its employees contributed more than 4,000 hours of volunteer time that provided benefits for both students and teachers. Exxon/Mobil's mission as a business partner is to "improve science and math education by creating partnerships with local teachers and schools to increase student interest in science and math, enhance teaching capabilities and demonstrate the important relationship between science and math education and everyday life."
Through the company's Science Education
Program, employees volunteer to carry out Exxon/Mobil's mission by serving as
Science Education Ambassadors. For CFISD, this partnership offers funds to schools
through grant programs, training for teachers, as well as a number of valuable
resources for class presentations and curriculum enhancements. Additionally,
company employees volunteer to provide direct services to schools by serving
as tutors, science fair judges, and a variety of other roles.
