Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District trustee Alton Frailey was named as the superintendent of Cincinnati Public Schools Friday, September 6, 2002.
Elected to Position 5 of the CFISD Board of Trustees in May 2000, Frailey was employed as an assistant superintendent in Spring Branch ISD while making his home in the Cypress-Fairbanks school district.
As a member of the Cy-Fair community, Frailey devoted his time to community and school activities. In addition to his role on the Board of Trustees, Frailey was involved in CFISD schools as a PTO member and served as a director for his homeowner’s association.
Following interviews with five applicants, the Cincinnati school board voted unanimously to hire Frailey for the leading administrative position in Ohio’s third largest school district. The district has approximately 42,000 students.
Having worked closely with Frailey as a member of the district’s "Team of Eight," Superintendent Rick Berry said that it was evident in Frailey’s chosen profession as well as his devotion to Cypress-Fairbanks ISD that he was committed to the education of children.
"It has been a pleasure to work with Alton. He has played an important role in guiding this district to outstanding levels of achievement," Berry said. "We wish him much success in his new leadership role and know that he and his family will be an asset to their new community."
Frailey earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education at Stephen F. Austin and began his teaching career in 1983. He joined the Spring Branch district in 1990 as a principal and was promoted to various administrative roles until becoming an area superintendent in 1999. He and his wife, Anissa, have three children, who were students in CFISD.
