Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Trustees recognized the Langham Creek Symphonic Band directed by Scott McAdow, the Langham Creek A Capella Choir directed by Cathy Wafford and the Jersey Village A Capella Women’s Choir directed by Neena Taylor during the December school board meeting. These groups were honored for being selected to perform at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Clinic and Convention in San Antonio in February 2003.
Choirs are selected to perform at TMEA through a recorded audition process. A panel of judges reviews the recordings that were submitted and selects one or two choirs from each category to perform.
The Langham Creek Symphonic Band, which captured the State 5A Honor Band Competition, is the first district band to be selected as the honor band in any classification. Bands that are chosen to perform at TMEA submit recordings of performances during the school year and then go through a series of elimination sessions at the region, area and state level.
