
CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS ISD STUDENTS HONORED IN NATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Five Cypress-Fairbanks ISD high school students have been named as Scholars while five more were selected as Participants Referred to Colleges in the National Achievement Scholarship Program, a privately financed academic competition for African-American high school students, conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Honored as National Achievement Scholars were Raina McMillon, Cy-Fair High School; Bobb Adams, Eliot Cotton, Grant Oladipo, Cypress Creek High School; and Bryan Owens, Jersey Village High School
Chosen as Participants Referred to Colleges were Karl Miller, Cypress Falls High School; Michael Stirgus, Cypress Springs; Geremy Cheeks, Jeremy McGown and Johnathan Winston, Langham Creek High School.
More than 110,000 African-American students from all parts of the U.S. entered the 2002 Achievement Program by requesting consideration when they took the 2000 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) as high school juniors. Each year, up to 3,000 National Achievement Program participants are brought to the attention of about 1,500 four-year U.S. colleges and universities.
