
Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Trustees honored Saundra Coffey, biology teacher and science chairperson at Cypress Springs High School, and Lenae Schreiber, sixth-grade science teacher and team leader at Dean Middle School, during the December 16 board meeting.
Coffey received the Texas Outstanding Biology Teacher Award from the Texas Association of Biology Teachers at the Conference for the Advancement of Science Training (CAST) in early November. She is the only biology teacher in the state to receive the award which is based on teaching style/approach, subject expertise/teaching techniques, teaching environment, community involvement and professional development.
Schreiber received the Rookie Science Teacher Award from the Science Teachers Association of Texas during CAST. This award is presented to one teacher in the state who demonstrates outstanding teaching and professionalism and has been teaching for less than two years.
