The Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District has named David Raffield as the campus athletic coordinator for Cypress Falls High School and Paul “Mac” Woodfin as the campus athletic coordinator for Langham Creek High School. Both will also serve as head football coaches at their respective campuses.
Raffield earned his bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas in Austin and his master’s degree from Prairie View A&M University. He began his teaching career at Alief Middle School in 1987 and then taught at South Houston High School from 1989-1991 before joining the staff of Cypress Falls in 1992. In the classroom, Raffield has served as an instructor for Teen Leadership and teaches World History. He has also been an assistant football coach and the head track coach at Cypress Falls.
Woodfin received his bachelor’s degree from Howard Payne University, his master’s degree from Southwest Texas State and his mid-management certification from Prairie View A&M University. He began his career as an assistant football coach at Van Alstyne High School in 1965 and gained coaching experience at Raymondville High School, New Braunfels High School, Merkel High School, Athens High School, Comanche High School, Boswell High School, Pasadena High School and South Houston High School before joining the staff at Langham Creek as an assistant football coach and world geography teacher in 1992. He was previously head football coach at Merkel High School from 1970-74.
“Both of these men have tremendous experience and have been in their current positions in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD since 1992,” said George Hopper, director of athletics. “I feel they have the expertise to continue the successful programs that have been established at both high schools.”
