The Cypress Creek High School boys’ basketball team advanced to the state tournament for the first time in school history. The Cougars played a great game, but lost 72-65 to Corpus Christi Ray in the state semifinals Friday, March 7 in the Erwin Center on The University of Texas campus in Austin.
The Cougars, coached by Jeff Thorpe, finish the season with a 31-7 record and the District 16-5A and Region II championships.
“The Cougars had a tremendous season and their success is due to the hard work put in by Coach Jeff Thorpe and his dedicated players,” said George Hopper, director of athletics in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. “Coach Thorpe kept his players focused all season long. They never looked too far ahead, they always concentrated on one game at a time.”
