Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Trustees recognized seven CFISD secondary students who were chosen as recipients of Gold Key Awards in the Scholastic Art competition during the March 2003 school board meeting.
Those students were Brianna Lamberson and Eric Plengemeyer of Cy-Fair High School, Alana Jordan of Cypress Falls High School, Andrea Patin and Chinong Nanthavougdoungsay of Jersey Village High School, and Sandra Arbelaez and Christopher Martin of Langham Creek High School.
The students’ works have been sent to the program’s national offices, where a final round of judging determines the 1,100 national winners. These students were honored at a reception in February at the Harris County Department of Education, the regional sponsor of this event.
“We are very proud of these winners,” said Pat Jones, art coordinator for CFISD. “Many past awardees have cited the receipt of their Scholastic Award as a major turning point in their lives. Some of the most renowned recipients of the Scholastic Awards are Richard Avedon and Andy Warhol.”
