CFISD Seniors Named National Merit Finalists

The Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District had 28 students named finalists in the 2003 National Merit Scholarship Program. These students will continue to compete for approximately 8,000 Merit Scholarship awards, worth more than $30 million, to be offered this spring.

Finalists are among the top one percent of more than one million students who entered the Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test during their junior year.

Named as finalists in the 2003 competition for Merit Scholarship awards were: Jeremy Brautigam, Emily Krennerich, Bryan Mitchell and Michelle Tang from Cy-Fair High School; Mark Broadbent, Joseph Castelli, Tyler Davis, Katherine Foster, Leslie Kendall and Jennifer Nation, Cypress Creek High School; Megan Gauthey and Kathleen Johnson, Cypress Springs High School; Sam Dirickson, Nathan Johnson, Samuel Lee, Laura Mengheang and Michael Scarborough, Jersey Village High School; Aubrey Desguin, Cypress Falls High School; and Megan Beesley, Megan Czepial, Anna Garza, Annie Jong, Carly Knight, Patrick Kruse, Emily Martin, Erin Prante, James Tang and Jordan Wheeler, Langham Creek High School.
