Advancing to regional competition are 1st place -Linda Hair; 2nd place-Billie Jordan; 3rd place-Amanda Bell; 4th place-Helen Nixon; and Alternate-Jeff Smith.
These drivers will compete at the Gulf Coast Chapter of the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT) School Bus Safety Road-e-o competition Saturday, April 26 at Cypress Falls High School. The competition will include participating districts from throughout the Region IV area.
The Road-e-o consists of 12 competitive events, some of which are parallel parking, off-set alley, diminishing clearance, and straight line (aligning the bus to allow front and rear dual wheels to travel between a row of tennis balls without disturbing them), and a written exam. These events allow drivers to not only hone their driving skills, but to increase their knowledge of traffic safety laws as well.
Winners of the regional competition will advance to state competition, hosted in Lubbock, Texas, in June.
