OGLETREE REMAINS UNOFFICIAL POSITION 5 WINNER FOLLOWING RECOUNT
Following a recount completed on May 13 that was requested by candidate Alan Quintero, John Ogletree remains the unofficial winner of the position 5 race in the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District Board of Trustees Election.
Canvassed results from the May 3 Trustee Election had Ogletree winning the position 5 seat with 1,104 votes, Quintero receiving 1,100 and Earl Springer receiving 242. Quintero’s petition for a manual recount was approved May 7. The results of the hand-counted votes showed Ogletree’s vote total at 1,103, while Quintero’s vote remained at 1,100, and Springer’s remained the same at 242.
Because there was a change in Ogletree’s total, the votes must be re-canvassed before he can be sworn in for a three-year term on the Board. A special-called Board meeting is expected the week of May 19 for that purpose.
