Registration for the 2003-04 Pre-kindergarten program in Cypress Fairbanks ISD
will be held July 30, July 31 and August 1 2003, at elementary campuses that
offer the Pre-kindergarten program.
The Pre-kindergarten program is state-funded for students whose economic situation or limited English proficiency might impede their success in school. Through Pre-kindergarten experiences, these children are provided with the extra academic support needed to prepare them for kindergarten.
The Pre-kindergarten program focuses on oral language development, early literacy, math, and social skills, providing children with developmentally appropriate learning activities that are delivered through learning centers.
To qualify for enrollment in a Pre-kindergarten class, a child must be four years of age on or before September 1, 2003, and must be unable to speak and comprehend the English language or come from a family whose income, according to standards set by the State Board of Education (SBOE), is at or below subsistence level. Students who qualify by income are eligible for free or reduced meals.
To register, the parents must provide the school with a certified birth certificate from the Bureau of Vital Statistics, a current immunization record, proof of residency, such as a lease agreement or utility bill, and a Social Security card for each child, if available. If applying for admission based on limited income, parents should bring their most recent payroll check stubs and a copy of their W-2 income statements for last year.
Each student will be assigned to either morning or afternoon classes depending on the residential zone in which he or she lives.
Registration will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m. on July 30, July 31 and August 1 at the following schools Bane, Francone, Frazier, Gleason, Hairgrove, Hamilton, Holbrook, Holmsley, Horne, Jowell, Kirk, Lamkin, Lieder, Metcalf, Millsap, Owens, Post, Reed, Robison, Sheridan, Tipps, Walker, Willbern, Wilson and Yeager.
