Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Trustees honored Cypress Falls High School teacher Linda Black during the August 11 Board meeting. Black recently won the national World History Association 2003 Teaching Prize.
The World History Association (WHA) is the professional organization for the research and teaching of world history. While its membership is predominantly from the United States, the WHA has members from throughout the world.
"Linda Black is an outstanding social studies teacher, author and researcher. She completed in-depth research about women in world history from ancient times to the present day, put the research into manageable size (100 pages) and then created a series of classroom lessons to accompany it," said Mary Smith, coordinator of secondary social studies. "The World History Association is composed of about 2/3 world history college professors and 1/3 high school world history teachers. It is a prestigious honor to be chosen for recognition by this group."
