TRUSTEES RECOGNIZE TRANSPORTATION EMPLOYEES

During the August 11 Board meeting, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Trustees honored transportation employees who won top awards in the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT) Special Needs School Bus Safety Road-e-o competition.

Employees Carole Wheeler and Cheryl Costello were recognized for winning first place in the state competition while Barbara Gayle-Haas and Shelley Johnson placed second in the competition in Lubbock, Texas. This is the second consecutive year that Wheeler and Costello have captured the state title. They will advance to the national competition in February 2004.

The Special Needs Team School Bus Safety Road-e-o consists of a driving skills event, an emergency evacuation event, a loading and securement event, a pre-trip inspection event and a written test.

"The Road-e-o serves as an excellent opportunity to expand the team’s knowledge of the special needs program, sharpen their teamwork skills and hone driving skills," said Rick Terrell, director of transportation. "We congratulate all of our teams and wish Carole and Cheryl the best of luck in the national competition."
