One student from each of the 38 elementary schools in the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District recently became the owner of a new mountain bike as part of a new program to promote healthier lifestyles to young children.
In January, the district’s food service department joined elementary physical education teachers to launch the Coordinated Approach To Child Health (CATCH) program— a coordinated effort between classroom, cafeteria and physical education, to prevent heart disease by reaching 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students before unhealthy habits begin.
