
Following the approval of employee transactions for the month of February, the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District Board of Trustees recognized current Yeager Elementary assistant principal Howard Diacon as the new principal for Holbrook Elementary and current Ault Elementary assistant principal Michael Maness as the new principal for Jowell Elementary during its regular monthly meeting.
The two men will replace current Holbrook Principal Deborah Harbin and Jowell Principal Patty Mooney who were named at the January 20 Board meeting as the principals to open Duryea Elementary and Keith Elementary, respectively.
Diacon has 27 years of experience in education. He began his career in Kansas where he taught for three years and served as the principal of three different elementary schools before transferring to Houston with his wife in 2003. He came to CFISD and joined the staff at Yeager Elementary where he serves as assistant principal.
After earning a bachelor of science in Education from the University of Kansas, Diacon received his master of education in educational administration at Fort Hays State University. He and his wife, Nancy, have two children, Tyler and Sarah.

Having begun his career in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, Maness has 11 years of experience in education. During his first six years in CFISD, he taught fourth- and fifth-grade students at Hairgrove Elementary before he was chosen to serve in his current position as assistant principal for Ault Elementary.
Maness received a bachelor of science in interdisciplinary studies from Abilene Christian University and earned his master of education degree in educational administration at Sam Houston State University. He and his wife, Ginger, have two young daughters, Hannah and Sophie.
