ELEMENTARY SPELLING BEE
The winner and runner-up from the Cypress-Fairbanks
ISD Elementary Spelling Bee are pictured with their awards following a close competition.
Jonathan Xu, a fourth-grade student at Fiest Elementary (left), won first place
by correctly spelling the words “corrugated” and “suburban”
in the final round in order to win. He will advance to compete in the Houston
Chronicle Spelling Bee scheduled for March 24, 2004. Walker Elementary fourth-grade
student Taha Tayyab (right) was the runner-up in the district competition held
February 10 at the Instructional Support Center.
