JERSEY VILLAGE WINS PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD

The Jersey Village High School Photography program received the plaque for Top Program in Texas Photography at the Association of Texas Photography Instructors Winter Conference, Feb. 27-29 in Austin.

The award recognized the school’s photography program based on the works of several students under the direction of Jason Neumann, photography teacher.

“It feels great to be recognized for all the hard work we do as a group, as well as recognize all the work and effort Mr. Neumann had put into us and our work,” senior Brittany Given said.

The contest consisted of three portfolios: landscape, portrait, and an open, thematic portfolio, for which Neumann and the students chose a water theme. Awarded for portfolios gathered from the 2002-2003 school year, several photographs were selected from both current students as well as 2003 graduates.

“The award gives them a sense of pride. It’s one of those things that it’s nice to be noticed. You feel that all the hard work the kids have been doing and I have been doing to get them motivated is finally recognized. I am very proud of the program,” Neumann said.
