TRUSTEES RECOGNIZE ATHLETES

Cypress-Fairbanks ISD trustees honored two swimmers and one wrestler who placed second in the state in their respective competition during the April 13 formal board meeting.

Tyler Hill, Cypress Creek High School, finished second in the state in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:40. Bryan Beresik, Langham Creek High School, placed second in state in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21 seconds. Ana Ramey, Langham Creek High School, finished second in the state in the 95-pound weight class in wrestling.

The Cypress Creek boys and girls swim teams captured the district and Region V swim championships. “All these fine athletes are to be commended for doing a great job. Both swimmers had a fantastic year and both adjusted to having new coaches this season,” said George Hopper, director of athletics. “Ana made wrestling history in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. She is the first female wrestler to ever advance this far, and this is her first year to wrestle. She made it all the way to the state finals where she lost 2-1 in double overtime.”
