“GEORGE HOPPER NIGHT” AT LANGHAM CREEK BASEBALL GAME

George Hopper, retiring Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District athletic director, will throw out the first pitch before tonight’s district baseball game between Langham Creek and Cypress Falls, scheduled for 7 p.m. at Langham Creek. Hopper will also be honored by players and coaches from both teams prior to the game.

Hopper, who has spent 32 years in the district and six as athletic director served as principal at both Langham Creek and Cypress Falls in his career.

Hopper earned his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University where he played football and coached baseball. Hopper earned his master’s degree from the University of Houston. His first coaching job was at Blocker Junior High School in Texas City and he made stops in Carthage, Texas, LaMarque, Corpus Christi, Pineville, Louisiana and Anson, Texas before being named the defensive coordinator at Jersey Village High School in 1972.
