TRUSTEES RECOGNIZE VISUAL ARTS STUDENTS

Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District trustees recognized 22 high school Visual Arts Scholastic Events (VASE) winners at the state and national levels and a National Scholastic Art Award winner at the May 6 Board meeting.

Andrea Nguyen, Cy-Fair High School, has been recognized as a National Scholastic Art Award winner. She won this prestigious honor for her piece “The Movement.” She has been invited to Carnegie Hall in New York for the National Celebration June 10-11. Nguyen is taught by Earl Emery.

VASE winners include Jennifer Alexander, Kristina Perez, Erin Weaver, Forrest Purser, Michaela Carpenter and Chase Kline, Cy-Fair; Julieta Culebro, Marlena Alose, Eric Buisson and Katie Pilgrim, Cypress Creek; Brittany Heisey, Emily Lacy, Emily Wilcox, Chris Armstrong, Jonathan Armstrong, Lucy Hernandez, Alberto Herrera, Faith Hong, Andrea Ortega, Lisa Villareal, Cypress Springs; Wes Brown and Diana Wu, Cypress Falls.

Erin Weaver, Cy-Fair, and Brittany Heisey, Cypress Springs, had their work selected from more than 1,100 superior rated artworks to be exhibited throughout the state. Both will receive gold medals.
