The 55-member Bond Study Steering Committee, charged by the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District ’s Board of Trustees to evaluate the district’s needs and to develop a bond issue recommendation, will host a public forum September 14, 2004 . Cypress-Fairbanks ISD residents are invited to hear the committee’s progress and submit input during the forum scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. in the Board Room of the district’s Instructional Support Center, 10300 Jones Road .
The Bond Steering Committee is comprised of parents, district employees, and business and community members that reflect both the geographic and demographic diversity of the district. The committee has been diligently studying district programs and researching the district’s needs in order to develop a bond issue recommendation for the Board to consider.
The forum will provide CFISD residents with an opportunity to share ideas and concerns directly with the members of the Bond Steering Committee. Public input is an important part of the committee’s evaluation in order for them to make a recommendation on the bond referendum.
Along with public input, the committee must also assess the educational need of students while developing a recommendation that is both fiscally sound and conservative. The committee’s recommendation must provide a solution for the facility and instructional technology needs brought on by the district’s rapid growth and projected enrollment of 95,300 students over the next several years, ensure support for a quality education for all students, ensure an adequate and appropriate learning environment and develop a five-year plan based on the evaluation of renovation needs of the district’s existing facilities.
