CYPRESS RIDGE CHEERLEADERS WIN NATIONAL TITLE

 

The Cypress Ridge High School cheerleading squad captured the Small Intermediate Varsity Division national title after competing against 19 high schools from across the nation at the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Junior and Senior High School National Competition on December 29-30, 2004.

Cypress Ridge advanced to the final round of competition with a first-place score of 7.83 on the first day of competition. The 14-member Cypress Ridge squad outperformed 11 other cheerleading teams to capture first place in the nation with a score of 7.86.

“We are very proud of our cheerleaders. They have put in a lot of extra hours and given up a lot to dedicate themselves to cheerleading,” said Wendy Bass, cheerleading coach at Cypress Ridge. “Also to our coaches/choreographers from Cypress Academy for all the time and effort you dedicated to the girls was greatly appreciated and definitely paid off.”

Members of the national title winning team are Becca Fleming, Jade Hicks, Keisha Scott, Jessica McBride, Lauren Rendon, Ashley Garrison, Ashley Massey, Autumn King, Amanda Lee, Sarah Tegethoff, Amanda Fausto, Amy McKay, Carly Berkowitz, and Coutney Cashiola.
