CFISD TO HOST FREE FINANCIAL AID VIDEOCONFERENCE FOR COLLEGE-BOUND STUDENTS, FAMILIES

(HOUSTON, TX.) – In recognition of Financial Aid Awareness Month, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD will host The FAFSA Made Easy, a videoconference produced by TG Communications to help students and families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).   The FAFSA is the first application students must complete to determine their financial aid eligibility to receive grants, work-study and student loans.

There is no cost to participants attending the event, which will be held Thursday, February 3, 2005, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. (CST) at Cypress Fairbanks ISD Instructional Support Center, 10300 Jones Road, Rooms 502 A & B.

Students and parents planning on attending should bring the following:

• FAFSA application form;
• Driver’s licenses and social security cards;
• W-2 forms and other records of money earned in 2004;
• 2004 U.S. income tax return (IRS Form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, or 1040TEL);
• Records of untaxed income, such as welfare, social security, TANF, or veterans benefits;
• Current bank statements;
• Current mortgage information (excluding primary home);
• Business and farm records; and
• Stocks, bonds, and other investment records.

In addition to going through the FAFSA step-by-step, high school seniors viewing the teleconference may enter their names into a drawing to win a $500 scholarship from TG Communications or a complete computer system donated by the Higher Education Servicing Corporation (HESC) in Arlington, Texas.
