Twelve Cypress-Fairbanks ISD student-athletes were recently named to the Academic All-State team by the Texas High School Coaches Association.
Student-athletes are chosen through a system that awards points for GPA, class rank and score on either the SAT or ACT. Each All-State team member must exhibit good moral character and be reputable member of his high school team.
Chosen for the first team all-state were Chase Williams and Ryan Braun, Cy-Fair High School, Sammy Oke, Cypress Ridge and Chris Funk and Daniel Warnhoff, Jersey Village. Named to the second team were Joseph Mallon and Joseph Rogeaux, Cypress Springs and Jacob Hiltrabrand, Adam Mattingly, and Kyle Ripple, Jersey Village.
Named to the third team were Josh Hudson, Cypress Creek and Chase Nesloney, Jersey Village.
“We are very proud of all these student-athletes. This is a tremendous honor for these young men who not only work hard on the practice field and in the weight room, but who also work just as hard in the classroom,” said Larry Peil, director of athletics.
