
Desiree McKinney, Reality Oriented Physical Experiences Course (ROPES) coordinator for Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, was a featured speaker at the recent Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (TAPHERD) annual convention in Arlington.
McKinney, co-presenter with a peer from Waller ISD, spoke on the topic “ How to start an Adventure Education Class in your School.”
“Cypress-Fairbanks ISD is fortunate to have such a dedicated and knowledgeable professional as Desi on our staff. She is the driving force that directs the success of the self-supported ROPES program in our district,” said Sadie Woodard, assistant superintendent for guidance, counseling and special services. “In addition, Desi extends her leadership to the state and national levels in support of the ROPES program. She is totally committed and gives beyond the call of duty to achieve outstanding success in providing social and emotional development activities for students through ROPES,” she said.
