Artwork from three Cypress-Fairbanks ISD students will be displayed in the William Travis Building in Austin as part of Youth Art Month activities sponsored by the Texas Art Education Association. Only 100 pieces of art in Texas were selected for this honor.
Students having their artwork selected for display are Marissa Lloyd, a third grader at Ault Elementary, Christen May, a fifth grader at Yeager Elementary and Shannon Miller, a junior at Cypress Creek High School. The students, their families and teachers, will be honored at an awards ceremony Sunday, February 27 at 3 p.m. in Austin. Youth Art Month is an annual observance, held in March, to emphasize the value of art education for all children.
“We are extremely proud of our creative young artists and their contribution to this cause. Each is a voice to the special way students explore and understand their visual world. This exhibit is but one small way our Cypress-Fairbanks art teachers share their students’ work with the public,” said Sarah Sanders, art coordinator for CFISD.
In other art-related news… the public is cordially invited to the Instructional Support Center, 10300 Jones Road, to view the Elementary District Art Show Tuesday February 8 from 6–8 p.m. This display of exceptional artwork (some of which is pictured here) will remain in the Instructional Support Center through February 27.
