TRUSTEES RECOGNIZE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

 

Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District trustees honored high school students for winning first or second place in state competitions for theater arts and media literacy during the February 28 Board meeting.

Cypress Creek students who won awards at the Texas Association of Journalism Educators state competition were: Mike Schultz- first place Superior in Instructional Video; Donny Hermes and J.W. Robison- first place Superior in Video News; and Russell van Kraayenburg and Lucas Amann- first place Superior Video Public Service Announcement. Alizsha Pennington, Cypress Creek- placed first in Public Service Announcements in the Association of Texas Photography Instructors contest.

Langham Creek students who won awards at the Texas Thespian contest were: Matt Lusk and Jordan Power- second place in Duet Pantomime; Andrea Russell, Lauren Petroski, C.C. McKinney and Jill Bonhurst- first place in Make-up Competition.

“All of these students exemplify success, not only in their programs,   but also as outstanding illustrations of the Portrait of a Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Graduate. These students would not have accomplished so much without the exceptional and tremendous parental support they have received,” said Elisabeth Baron, curriculum coordinator for speech, debate, and media literacy.
