UCTV STUDENTS WIN AWARDS IN HOUSTON’S YOUNG MOVIEMAKERS CONTEST

 

     United Cougar Television (UCTV) students from Cypress Creek High School won awards in Houston’s Young Moviemakers 2005 competition and will be honored at a ceremony on April 17 at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

     Senior Taylem Stanley and Junior Dillon Menefee’s independent film, “Beatnik,” will be showcased in its entirety and awarded the coveted first place in drama.  Sophomore Alizsha Pennington's acclaimed public service announcement, “Anti-Abuse” will receive a first place and be shown in its entirety. 

     As winners, Taylem, Dillon, and Alizsha will be invited to have their works shown by Houston MediaSource on the community access television channels. 

     Houston’s Young Moviemakers 2005 is a collaboration between the film department of The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Women in Film & Television/Houston, the Education Foundation of Harris County, and Houston MediaSource.

     The winning films produced by Houston area elementary, middle and high school students will be shown during the awards presentation, emceed by KHOU-Channel 11´s Heather Regimbald, scheduled for April 17 at 2 p.m. in the museum’s Brown Auditorium Theater.
