“The kids begin early in the school year on one of the five long-term challenges and throughout the year they develop life-long skills of problem-solving, critical thinking and decision making. They learn that creativity is not just thinking outside of the box but thinking creatively within the parameters of the box and they also learn teamwork – not teamwork just to win but the kind of teamwork where you rely on the strengths and skills and talents of those around you,” said Cassie Johnson, gifted and talented helping teacher.
