Following the approval of employee transactions during its regularly scheduled meeting for the month of May, the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District Board of Trustees recognized current Hamilton Middle School principal, Sue McGown, as the new principal of Cypress Woods High School. Cypress Woods High School is scheduled to open in the fall of 2006 as the district’s eighth comprehensive high school.
Ms. McGown earned a Bachelor of Science from East Texas State University, a Master of Education from Prairie View A&M, and has 31 years of experience in education. She began her teaching career in Carthage ISD before teaching in Nacogdoches ISD and Houston ISD. In 1974, McGown joined CFISD as a teacher at Holmsley Elementary. She later taught at Labay Middle School and then became an assistant principal at Bleyl Middle School. As a result of her demonstrated leadership skills, Ms. McGown was then named the principal at Hamilton Middle School where she has served for 13 years.
