Seven Cy-Fair High School recent graduates were named as Finalists in the 2005 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Kelsey Brehm, Adam Harms, Karl Johnson, John Luck, Lauren McKinney, Sarah Naseman and Philip Perez, who were all part of the graduating class of 2005, entered the program as juniors and advanced to the level of finalists in the prestigious competition.
More than 1.3 million juniors in over 21,000 U.S. high schools entered the 2005 Merit Scholarship competition when they took the 2003 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. In September 2004, approximately 1,600 of the highest scorers were named Semifinalists.
