STUDENTS AT LEE ELEMENTARY SHOW ASTROS’ SPIRIT THROUGH READING INCENTIVE PROGRAM

Students at Lee Elementary are playing their own ball game by reading various books for an Astros’ reading incentive program. The object of the program is for students to try and reach home base by reading various books and completing a reading assignment for each book. Once the assignment is done, students advance one base until they reach home.

Lee’s librarian Kim Richardson said the main purpose is to encourage students to read different types of books.

“My ultimate goal is to have an Astros player visit the school and talk to the students about the importance of reading and how baseball players read too.”
