BASKETBALL COACH TO BE RECOGNIZED FOR 400TH HIGH SCHOOL CAREER WIN

Jim Draudt, varsity basketball coach at Cypress Falls High School, celebrated his 400th high school win of his career when the Golden Eagles defeated Katy Taylor in December; now he will be recognized on Friday, Feb. 17 before the team’s game against Cypress Springs High School as he shoots for his 40th consecutive home-game win.

“Jim is one of the most outstanding coaches I’ve ever met,” said Becky Denton, associate principal at CFHS. “He is a class act—everything he does is done with excellence.”

If the Golden Eagles win the Feb. 17 game, it would give the team a school record high of winning 40 straight home games in the past three years. To win the game, Draudt said the team will perform its normal routine.

“Basically, it’s another important game and we are preparing like normal,” Draudt said. “We’ll break down the team’s offense and defense and play the best that we can.”

Draudt has coached Cy Falls to five district championships and has been named six times as District 16-5A/17-5A Coach of the Year.

Draudt has taught and coached for 35 years, 22 of which have been in CFISD.   He and his wife Donna have three children—two of them teach and/or coach in the district.
