FRANCONE TEACHER CONTINUES TO COMPETE FOR MARIAN & SPEROS MARTEL EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR AWARD

A CFISD Spotlight Teacher and Bilingual Teacher of the Year recipient, Jane Ann Brown, who has taught at Francone Elementary for 23 years, was notified that she is now one of four teachers selected from the six finalists to continue competing for the  Marian & Speros Martel Early Childhood Educator Award.

At the next level of competition, Brown will have members of the award’s selection committee make classroom visits at various times prior to April 1.

“We are so excited that Jane Ann has advanced to the next level of the Marian and Speros-Martel Early Childhood Educator Award,” said Francone principal, Sue Romanowski.   “When the committee visits her classroom, they will be so impressed by the exciting learning environment they will see.   The visitors will observe students actively engaged in literacy activities that promote reading and writing in both Spanish and English.   This is truly a well- deserved honor and we are very proud of Jane Ann’s recognition.”

By winning the award, which is sponsored by the Children’s Museum of Houston and annually presented to an outstanding professional in the field of early childhood education, Brown will receive $1,000 and one-year membership at the Children’s Museum. The winner, along with all finalists, will be recognized on April 1 at the Children’s Museum.
