Sarah Sanders, art coordinator for CFISD, was recognized by the Board of Trustees on Thursday, March 16, for being elected President-Elect for the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA).

“Being elected to this position is an honor and a very rewarding and humbling experience,” Sanders said. “I look forward to reinforcing TAEA’s mission of promoting visual arts education as an integral part of curriculum.”

Sanders was nominated and had her name placed on the ballot for the President-Elect position and received the most votes by members of the association. She will serve as President-Elect through 2007 and will automatically become the President of TAEA serving a two-year term from 2007 through 2009.

“Sarah is a true leader who leads by example. She encourages with a smile and sets the standards high, leading all to know her expectation for art education in our state,” said Sara Chapman, executive director of TAEA. “Her expertise is curriculum and instruction and she will go a long way in helping our organization set lofty goals for quality teaching and standards-based instruction in the art rooms.”  TAEA is an association that promotes and implements quality visual arts education through communication with students, parent, school administrators and community leaders.
